Birth Technology
Maternal/Fetal Monitor
Even low risk pregnancies can sometime require extra prenatal monitoring. We can provide non emergency NSTs (Non-Stress Tests) in the comfort of one of our birth suites.
Point of Care Ultrasound
Too early to hear baby's heartbeat with a handheld doppler? We can check for baby's heartbeat with our ultrasound machine as early as 7-8 weeks for most pregnancies. We can also check to make sure your baby is head down as labor approaches - saving you a visit to a separate clinic when all we need is some reassurance.
TENS unit
Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation (TENS) can help with the pain of labor. Four sticky pads are placed on your back and and you are in control of the intensity of the electrical stimulation. You can turn it up and down during a contraction to create a "buzzy" sensation. This releases endorphins, you body's own pain killing substances. This tool can be especially useful if you are in early labor but having difficulty relaxing and breathing through the contractions.
Birth Suites
We have two spacious birth suites designed specifically for natural birthing – complete with birth tubs, dimmable lights, showers with never-ending hot water, birth balls, nitrous oxide. Your midwife will stay with you through your entire labor, catch your baby, and discharge you after two to four hours to sleep in your own bed.

Nitrous Oxide
Looking for a non-hospital option but a little concerned about pain relief? If you’re nervous, then nitrous oxide may be the answer for you. Nitrous oxide is similar to the “gas” you may have experienced at the dentist office. You breathe it in during the contraction to take the edge off, and in between contractions you breathe normal room air. The nitrous leaves your body in a few breaths and has no effect on the baby. Ask one of our midwives if you’re interested in this option.
Kitchenette
We have a kitchenette with fridge/freezer, microwave, silverware, and hot water spigot. Bring your own favorite snacks and drinks for labor refreshment. You’ll also get to go home with a large insulated Sprout mug. to make sure you keep hydrated in those first few weeks of recovery.
Garden Stakes
While not exactly technology, each family gets to choose a plant stake for display in our front reception area. You are welcome to take it home after our annual summer picnic.
